THE EASTER BUNNY FOUND US!
First night in camp went smoothly. Maybe with the exception of our idiot neighbors burning a pinewood campfire and talking all night. All that notwithstanding we all slept pretty good. As a breakfast of gruel and honey was being prepared, Mitch struggled with his first mechanical challenge of the trip. A broken valve core on his back tire, which required a replaced tube.
Camp broke down quickly and we were back on the road bright and early. 10:00 a.m. Not really so early.
We're on the road a few miles and guess what.....? Nature calls and Charlotte must answer. How many times can Charlotte be a bear in one day?! The funniest was Charlotte's bear stop where she inadvertently mooned multiple passing vehicles with her shiny hiney.
The real highlight of the day came at our next break stop, 10 miles from the finish. The Easter Bunny cleverly disguised as bikers were at the same stop. Reese's Peanut Butter Eggs were quickly produced and shared with us. OMG! The Easter Bunny found us on the Natchez Trace. It was quite a treat, as you can imagine.
A few miles before Clinton we stopped to check our maps when droplets of rain started to fall. Quickly pulled up radar and determined a hotel instead of a campground was in our near future. Following a harrowing 2 mile ride down the shoulder of Interstate 20, we found an Econo Lodge and pulled in for the night. Easter Dinner was had at Shoney's. Delicious. Shortly thereafter, we ordered 2 medium pizzas to be delivered to our hotel rooms. Delicious again!!
Tomorrow is planned at roughly 40+ miles. We're resting up now in anticipation.
